History of the Tuxedo

The tuxedo originated from a more casual dinner jacket developed in Britain for Prince Edward VII (later King Edward VII) in the 1860s as a less formal alternative to the tailcoat.

In America, the style gained popularity among members of New York's elite, in the area known as Tuxedo Park, and it quickly became a fashionable trend.
